This nourishing rose vinegar hair rinse rinse soothes and improves the health of your scalp! Plus it is such a lovely shade of pink!
One of my favorite things to post about is vinegar hair rinses. If you’ve been reading my blog long enough you’ll probably realize this fact as I’ve got quite a collection of hair rinse recipes now.
I’ve got a strengthening nettle hair rinse, a hibiscus hair rinse, and my ever popular calming lavender hair rinse.
Despite having already made so many different herbal vinegar hair rinses…. I have yet another! Rose!
We are all familiar with this iconic and romanic flower. The rose is known for its beauty and lovely scent. But did you know that there’s a lot more to roses than just bouquets?
Whether you have a bouquet of roses that is loosing its luster or you want to remove some roses from a rose bush or you just bought a bag of dried rose petals and you’ve no idea how to use them… this is a great way to put rose petals to good use!
But first…..
What Is A Vinegar Hair Rinse?
Hair rinses are an alternate to conditioner. Now unlike conditioner that is more cream like, a hair rinse is just a liquid and in this case it’s vinegar based. Simply dilute some of the vinegar hair rinse in water, pour over your hair, let sit for a few minutes, and rinse.
Of course, you don’t have to ditch your favorite conditioner forever. You can just use it every now and then (it can be really helpful in removing all that hair care product buildup) but you might just find that it works so well and is so affordable that you’ll want to use it all the time.
Why Use An Herbal Vinegar Hair Rinse?
You don’t need herbs to make a great vinegar hair rinse. Plain Jane vinegar works just fine. However, it can smell like.. well a pickle faculty. Thankfully, it only smells like vinegar when your hair is wet; the smell disappears once your hair is dry.
However adding herbs to your vinegar rinse is a wonderful way to help mask the vinegar smell and herbs can add skincare/haircare benefits!
How to Dry Rose Petals
You can buy dried rose petals but if you are using some fresh from your garden or bouquet, you’ll want to dry them first!
With that in mind, here is how to dry your own rose petals.
Gather pesticide-free rose petals and wash them clean. Pat dry.
Spread petals on baking sheet at cook in the oven at 200 degrees and bake until crisp.
Store in an air tight container until ready to use.
You can also dry your rose petals in a dehydrator instead of an oven. Just spread them out on dehydrator trays and dry for a few hours on low heat.
Benefits of Roses
Besides smelling wonderful and looking pretty, roses are actually quite beneficial for skincare or ahem…haircare.
Roses are astringent making them great for excess oil production that you may deal with or if you deal with acne on your scalp.
And while roses might help with that excess oil production, it can also reduce dry frizzy hair. Roses have long been known for their moisturizing properties and that includes rehydrating your scalp.
Roses can also help with issues such as eczema or rosacea as it is soothing and has anti-inflammatory properties.
Of course, roses are also relaxing and can uplift your mood so they have great therapeutic benefits as well!
