In light of how difficult crunchy gift giving can be, I thought I’d share some natural and eco-friendly gift ideas that I’ve come across.
Today’s gift guide is a natural gift guide for the new mama or soon to be moms.
Yes, you could give these ladies any of the usual gifts for women but if they are a new mama, odds are good that a bunch of cloth diapers will make their day just as much (if not more) than a non-baby related item.
There are some gifts that are pretty pricey and some that are reasonably priced.
Natural Gift Guide for The New Mama
Soft Structured Baby Carrier – This is one of my all time favorite products when it comes to babies. Without my carrier, I don’t know how I’d get things done! One of my favorite carriers to use is the Ergo. Both are great!
Cloth Diapers – Yeah, I know what you are thinking, cloth diapers seem like the most ridiculous gift to give someone…it’s like giving socks and underwear as a gift. However, if the new mama is anything like me then cloth diapers are high on her list!
Not only is it practical and will save tons of money, they are highly addicting! We cloth diaper addicts can always use more fluff! I recommend finding out what type of cloth diapers the mama uses or wants to use but as for my personal recommendation, I use GroVia!
Amber Teething Necklace – Popular in Europe, these necklaces are finally starting to catch on over here in the USA. Amber Teething Necklaces are pain relief for teething babies…naturally! No drugs needed!
Contrary to what most would guess, these necklaces are not for chewing on, the amber releases succinic acid into the bloodstream which reduces pain. It’s crazy sounding but I’ve had two babies who have gotten their teeth unnoticed because of these things!
Books – If you are looking for good natural books to give your new mama (or even an experienced mama) then Real Food for Mother and Baby is great. If you are looking for something more beefy then Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care is amazing!
Nursing Support – Breastfeeding can be hard or at the very least tiring! Why not give a gift that will help support nursing? There are some great nursing kits that include teas and creams or a boppy.
Bath Stuff – I think every woman loves bath stuff and a new mama would be no different. In fact, I’d venture to say that a new mama needs those baths and showers as her “me time”, at least that was how I got to recharge when I was a new mama. If you are looking for some great smelling natural bath products, I love 100% Pure! I use their body wash and lotion all the time.
