I’ve heard it said before that a clean sink will make the whole kitchen seem clean. This is definitely true for me. If my sink is dirty then I feel like my entire kitchen is disgusting.

Since I like to only use natural cleaners and products in my home, I needed to find something that worked great but was also non-toxic and natural.

I found out that there was such a product and it was incredibly cheap as a bonus! What is that product?

Baking soda! Good old, natural and cheap, baking soda!

Baking soda has been used for ages as an effective scrubber (although baking soda has so many uses). It’s very affordable which I love because part of the reason I switched to green cleaners is because it’s the frugal choice!

Of course, I do tend to spend a smidgen more on my baking soda because I buy the “good stuff”. Baking soda is aluminum free but there are a couple of other reasons to choose your baking soda wisely.

This natural sink cleaner is the simplest green cleaning product you will ever make. It is literally one ingredient! No mixing, storing, measuring… nothing. Just sprinkle and scrub.

Natural Sink Cleaner

Items Needed:

Baking soda
Something to scrub with, I like using a cleaning brush
Old toothbrush for the small areas

Directions:
In a slightly wet sink, sprinkle baking soda all over.
Make sure to not just clean the basin of the sink but use the old toothbrush to scrub around faucets, around drains, the rubber flap thing that keeps food from spraying out when you use the disposer, etc.
Scrub thoroughly and then rinse clean.

This works on stainless steel or porcelain sinks.
Porcelain has a way of making it known that it’s disgusting but stainless steel has an amazing ability to hide how truly dirty it is.
