While the microwave is not the best appliance to have in a natural home, I’d venture to say that most of us still have one nonetheless.

I still have a microwave and while I love the idea of ditching the microwave, I still resort to the heat-in-an-instant appliance occasionally.

All that said, the microwave can get dirty very easily. Hello spaghetti!

Unfortunately, it’s also easy to hide that mess and forget about it. The good news is that cleaning your microwave can be very simple.

There’s no need to break out any nasty cleaners because you only need one common pantry item to make your microwave squeaky clean.

How to Naturally Clean Your Microwave

Items Needed:

Microwave safe bowl
1 cup water
1/4 cup white vinegar
Rag
Toothbrush

First start by adding 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup of white vinegar to your microwave safe bowl.
Place that bowl in the microwave and zap it for 5 minutes.
Keep the bowl in your microwave for 1-2 minutes more to allow the steam to really build up.
Once done, carefully remove the bowl from the microwave.
The bowl and water will be extremely hot so please use a oven mitt, pot holder, towel, etc.

The microwave should now have a nice layer of steam which has loosened up all that gunk.
Simply wipe down the inside of your microwave with your rag and you are done.
Use an old toothbrush, if you need to get into any nooks and crannies.

If you need a bit more cleaning power, just dip your rag into the hot vinegar water (carefully) and use that to scrub off any stubborn spots.

Dip your rag in the hot vinegar water (again, carefully) to wipe the outside of your microwave clean and you are done!
